Free motion quilting for the very first time

There is the first time for everything – and today it was the time for free motion quilting.

I have never used FMQ on a real project before. At the moment I am trying to replicate a stunning design by Nydia Kehnle, my  quilting goddess!  However the sharp corners of half square triangles felt a bit too edgy – especially when I think about the person that quilt is made for as she is the sweetest person on earth. So I decided to add some softness with loops and funny hearts by free motion quilting.

Yes, it was a bit risky, but totally worth it – and if nothing else, it was lots of fun.
